Superficial Sock Surgery
One of my "finish this before the end of the year" projects was to 'fix' the Senbonzakura socks I knitted in this years Sock Madness. Although they were the right size for my feet right off the bat at the minimum requirements for the round (thanks to an absurdly tall row gauge), the socks didn't feel quite right. My hands were itching to get started on the beautiful pattern from the second round of Sock Madness, written by KnitJoyz. I've knit a couple of her designs before and like DotsDabbles and HeleenK, once I know a pattern is hers, I will love to try my hand at it. Qualifying Round: Senbonzakura
I do not love knitting Twisted Stitches. And although these are not mini-cables as the word might suggest, the knit stitches on these socks are all knit through the back loop, making them nice and tight and clearly visible (knit stitches flanked by purl stitches tend to look loose, but knitting them through the back loop prevents this ( Read more... ) -

The end of this year's Sock Madness -- for me
Although I may not have been quite recovered from Round 2's cable fest of a sock, I started on Round 3 with happy fervor. It was a beautiful sock and it featured a lot of fun techniques. Sunday around lunchtime I was three repeats in and starting on my fourth:
